Back in December, I ran into this ball of fluff while I was out shooting, and I was instantly mystified. After 11 years of photographing dogs, I consider myself somewhat of an expert at identifying dog breeds, but every now and again, I do get stumped.

Was Teddy some sort of Great Pyrenees/Samoyed/Anatolian Shepherd/Polar Bear hybrid? I’m used to flexing my rare breed dog knowledge on unsuspecting rare breed dog owners, but on that day in December, I was up pup’s creek without a paddle. After chatting with his owner, I got a few answers…
