It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a lowrider! And no, we’re not talking about a car with crazy suspension and hydraulics. We’re talking about dogs with big bodies and lil’ legs. The technical term for this is achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, where a dog’s body grows proportionally while their legs end up shorter. Breeds like the Dachshund, Corgi, and Basset Hound each have short legs as a defining characteristic, originally a feature to help them perform their hunting or herding job better. But nowadays, for the lowriding dogs we have as pets, it’s just something many of us find incredibly cute.
